Wouldn't recommend it for road use at all! It would drive like a kart and would try to go sideways everywhere. Will most definitely NOT be safe on wet sweeping motorways

it would understeer mostly unless you gave it lots of acceleration... to be honest, I would say its more predictable but it will definately cost you in tyres as every turn you make will wear one tyre down.

The way friends of mine do this is by dropping a couple of bolts in between the teeth of the diff and then use loads of weld (they can break and you don't want a loose bolt in there)... this has been covered loads on www.sxoc.com and driftworks forums - worth searching and asking there!

or try 4x4 forums like difflock as diff welding is an off road speciality

Used to own a jeep, what they do is weld the spider gears to the carrier, buy putting a blob of weld between the gear teeth on the upright and spider gear in 4 or so place.. not round the whole lot. This should hold up to a fair bit as they do this on jeeps and stuff.

an m3 has a 25% lock up lsd, plenty good for drifting

jonb welded his diff up, was odd to drive with it on, understeer at highspeed and twitchy at tight turns.
