I have the "snake" style electric window regulators. The right one slips at the upper position, motor does not stop and the gear is slipping against the "snake" or spring, whatever. The gear is ok, but the spring is badly worn at the location when the window is closed. So there's nothing to do to fix it.
I have also the manual regulator versions and started to think to replace the worn spring with the manual one, which (I hope) is not worn that way. But, looks like it won't be an easy job. Has anyone removed the spring from the tube and how it is supposed to be done? The window glass supports won't slide through the curves, so at least the front one has to be removed. The the spring may slide out from back. I don't know.
Has anyone done something like this?
