I have just removed and replaced cylinder head but have now had to lift head off again.

For sure I am getting new head bolts but should I also replace the head gasket as its all been torqued down - the engine has not run so gasket is as new?

Thanks

What was the reason to remove the head again ? and how long was it fully torqued down?
Did you have the head pressure tested earlier ? and was it skimmed?
What car and engine do you have?

Mart.
Only the E46 cab left now.
Just got too old.

Its the 2.5 engine. Head was skimmed and pressure tested and all OK, torqued down for about 4 weeks and has not been run when I had a brain fade and could not remember if I had fitted the locating dowels (which I had!)

Thanks for advice.
