I have just fitted a few new coolant pipes and a brand new termostat and brand new housing inc new blue sensor. I ran it for a while after and it was sweet, drove it around for a few hours, sweet..

I just drove it for the first time in about 2 weeks, as soon as i gave it abit of welly, i noticed the temp gauge had shot up to just under the red. i was about to pull over and it slowly went bk down to half way before creeping back up to the red again..

when driving normally it seems to sit about 3/4 of the way up the gauge..

Any ideas whats causing this?

sounds like air in the heater matrix/ make sure heater is open on full to get the water circulating, idle and blip for a while, open the bleed screw and observe good healthy dribble of water and no air.
