back springs went in no problem, rear shocks aren't fitted atm because my top mounts didn't arrive in time.

So I've started on the fronts!

new control arms + bushes, springs and shocks to fit both sides. but I've run into a couple of problems...

How can i get the inner balljoint off when its spinning with it being undone, I'm tempted to cut if off as i have a new arm to go on anyway.

and anyknow know where to get some tools to do this in order to get the front spring housing off?

one side I didn't have a problem with undoing but the other one is being a complete pain 8O or, is it better to go with the vice grip approach as I'm replacing the shock anyway?

and whats the best technique for taking off the locking nut for the front shocks?

Many thanks

Place a jack under the lower outer ball joint to put pressure on it should stop it spinning enough to undo the nut. Then use a ball joint splitter or hammer it out. After you have removed the jack obviously.

And an impact wrench usually gets the damper bolt out of the top mount. Just ensure you have the spring compressors tight enough so that the nut and top mount don't fire off as the bolt is removed.

I don't have an impact wrench handy annoyingly, if I did it would make life so much easier... know of any decent ones that aren't going to break the bank?

Try using one off thoses Stihl chainsaw/strimmer tools, as you can put a Allen key through the centre to hold steady the strut

19mm socket with a couple of flats ground on opposite sides, so that an open ended spanner can fit on. Allen key/1/4" socket stuff down through the middle.
