Im looking to fit an alarm to my E30 but need some advice.
I will probably fit a dead-switch as well and I know alarms are never going to stop someone who really wants the car taking it, but I'm hoping it will act as a deterrent and may bring the insurance down a bit.
Im quite happy fitting one myself and will do a proper job, not something fitted by so called 'Professionals'
So has anyone fitted an aftermarket alarm to a car? if so which one would you recommend?
Ive seen this which is full of features but seems a little cheap to me? http://www.rclick.co.uk/product_info.ph ... cts_id=763
Cheers!

that's just a cheap Chinese alarm, you would get for about £20 on eBay

ANY non silent alarm on an E30 that doesn't have its own independent power source is close to useless. It takes a couple of seconds to cut through the battery negative lead once you've popped the bonnet or boot as appropriate. Retire to a safe place for a couple of minutes, to see if anyone's been alerted, then return, deal with immobiliser, etc., reconnect earth lead with a jump lead, and away you go.

You can make your own tracker for a lot less than buying a real one, all you need is an old iPhone and hard wire a charger in to your electrics all iPhone's have a built in app called find my iPhone which will allow you to track you car in real time with no subscription charges etc.Ashley1995 wrote:I hadn't, are they not a lot more expensive?
Only down side a home made tracker wont lower your insurance but will still give you piece of mind
If you want to be trick about it you can even set it to auto answer, plug it in to a speaker so you can call it should your car be stolen and scare the life out of the scumbag who's nicked it
