My rack is dead on my 318is
Its a perfect time to do a little upgrade on it
Im abit confuse with the uj bit
So the e36 rack bolts on as normal with the e36 rods
The pipes can be bent to work?
The uj will foul or needs changed?
Any help appreciated

E36 racks are old and worthless, fit an E46 rack, they are much better

You will need to fit taller/stiffer engine mount on an iS too

an "067" e46 rack is much better, but there is no difference in the standard e36 and e46 racks bar age.

an iS doesnt need taller engine mounts but it does help with clearing the exhaust manifold.
my rack is fitted with just pipes and spacers, standard e30 guibo is close, but the too have never made contact, even under "spirited" driving
M40 rightness if you can get to 6000rpm noone can hear your tappets

only in the fact that the e46 is fresher/newer than the worn out e36 racks.

hello
if you want to do it right fo long time . replace front suspension .hub steering column ,alloy control arm from e46 , and rear arm from e36 compact . this give your e30 this what e30 really needs . you need just a few parts and some space in garage for weekend

The rack ending in 067 is the best (3.0 turns) the rest of the range is (3.4).

The 067 one is found on clubsports, but also some 320ds. Mine was off a 320td I think. £30 off eBay, so no M-tax either.
