This may be a dumb question, but how do I get a new windscreen?
Can you re-use all the old rubbers, etc? Mine seem to be in OK nick. Would I order from BMW or aftermarket?
Or do I need to get an installer, or drop it off at someone?
Would love to switch out my chipped monstrosity (it's not awful, but there is a lot of tiny chips)
I know these seem like dumb questions - must be my rookie sunday!
Cheers,
Gus

Yes, you can reuse the old rubbers.
New ones are about £200 from BMW. If yours got cracked somehow
You can do it your self, you just need some strong cord, I have used 1mm single electric cable which works well, a tool to re install the surround locking strip, and some soapy water helps.
Patience is the key.

Patience...ugh. Not really my forte...
I may decide to be bold when I'm back in town and give this a go!

E30 screen is so easy to fit that the cord trick isn't really needed. Plenty of lube (NOT washing up liquid based - full of salt), slide one bottom corner of the screen into the groove, then just lift the rest over by hand or with the aid of a small screwdriver.
Locking strip can also be fitted with a small screwdriver, and lots of patience, but it will slip at some point, so make sure it slips towards the glass and not the painted bodywork. Worth investing in the correct tool for the strip, or fit the screen without the strip and drive SLOWLY to someone who has one.

Thanks!
Any link to the correct tool I can buy online?

I need to swap my screen too.. Been putting it off for nearly a year.
I've not really looked at the locking strip yet.. Does anyone have any diagrams or pictures that would be useful in how it locks/unlocks?

Locking strip just pulls out. Force a small screwdriver under it, lever it out and pull. Then work all the way around the rubber against the glass, lifting it up to make sure it isn't stuck anywhere, then get in the car, get comfortable in the front seats, put both feet up against the glass and push until one corner pops out.
