Just wondering, can u use a pre face lift box with a face lift engine? And vice versa

no such thing as a "facelift/pre-facelift gearbox/engine"
althought you can get hi/low comp M20B25's

Sorry, getting confused, that's what I meant! I always class a hi-comp as pre facelift n low as the other. Ok, can they be mated together? Before when I was younger and naive, I had a hi comp engine/box but swapped the box for a later one! ( I was being lazy and didn't wana change 2 things on it) and the car wouldn't start! My mates about rondo the same thing but says there's a way to do it? I can't see how really

i think you are refferenceing the different Motronic systems....
some of the older engine electrics had sensors mounted on the gearbox bell housing.....

Yeah that's where I went wrong! Lol just found out that you can use the older box wiv the newer engine but not the other way round as the wires ain't there to communicate! Thanks for your help tho
