I've got a 327 lump in the garage, did you want me to read off any part numbers ?

It should have 27 6E or 27 6K on it;

ok on the block at the top just under the cylinder head it has

1278921

then

then

these are cast into the block in large font


at the bottom by the sump it has

20726250

which has been stamped on a flat section

sorry I could only get to the inlet side

There's no such thing as a 327i. There's a 325e, which has the BMW official 2.7 engine (M20B27), and there are the three "home-made" 2.7 permutations listed in the link Ben provided. Click on the links in that article and you'll get all your answers - it's been covered dozens of times.

The actual block is identical for the 325i and 325e cars. It's the crank and pistons that create the difference in displacement.

It will be stamped 27 on the small rectangular cast face to the right of the bottom of the dipstick tube.

I thought the deck heigh of the m20b27 was approx 0.5mm shorter than the b25?
