Small case diff. comes with a 318i. Wouldn't recommend it with a M52 powering it.

You will want something like the diff of a 325i around a 3.91. Expect to pay around £250+ for a decent LSD in that ratio

lol i keep getting this,, do the other case diff`s fit up ok, or is more involved to change them.
I have had a good couple of days getting used to it again and have given the car a lot more stick than i would normally and touch wood all seem ok so far.. apart from wearing out one tyre at a time

No, it was a relatively rare optional extra and most will be chawed/shagged out by now anyway.

There is a 3.64 listed here:

http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... c&t=237571

And a 3.91 here:

Prices are only going one way sadly. If you do get lucky and find a breaker with a diff, you are looking for an S on the diff tag before the ratio. That indicates it's a slipper

Forgot to mention, a medium case fits right in with no modification. You only need to adjust the driveshaft length which is an easy task

I'd be looking for a 3.64 or a 3.73 at the most for M52 power through an overdrive box.
Don't worry too much about a LSD - their advantages are very much over stated on here. On normal tarmac, the acceleration, even from rest, will be exactly the same for both a slipper and open diff. for a driver with any kind of car control.
