I've got a really bad rattle under my car. It only seems to be when i lift off and seems to knock around corners in time with road speed. Theres no marks or scrapes on wheels or drive shafts.

It sounds alot like the exhaust is hitting a heat shield. Ive moved the exhaust round and checked the heat shields but it doesn't seem to be any of these?

Does anyone have any ideas? Its pretty loud and sounds like it could be doin some damage but im at a loss. Sounds like something is really moving around and smacking around under there.

Cheers
Si

Could be the prop-shaft centre bearing and/or carrier on its way out.
This would be matched by changes in road speed, and you wouldn't see any visible evidence as it is hidden by the heatshield.
Suggest you look at the Wiki
Schadenfreude - the German's haven't got a word for that.

Never thought about the centre bearing! That'd explain it. Sounds terrible when lifting off, i think if its gone its proprly gone.
