Probably an aftermarket alarm acting up.
It does sound like an anti -hijack type thing. If you are 100% sure there isn't a box 'o tricks lurking up under the dash somewhere, I think the lock notify is earthing of pins 7 or 8 on the central locking unit, might be earthing to the body somewhere.

Think it might be a dodgy 4 pin relay above the glovebox area?

Nothing in this area relevant to the locking.Minimayhem81 wrote:Think it might be a dodgy 4 pin relay above the glovebox area?
There are a lot of alarm/immobilisers in E30s that their owners know nothing about! More than one in many cases.
i went to fit a aftermarket alarm about 2 years ago, the alarm unit was dodgy and i got my money back, never bothered getting at it again,
everything has been fine since then and its only started recently, its intermittent, but i cant trust it leaving my keys in, with the ignition on,

Well, if there's no aftermarket alarm fitted, the only things it can be is a locking ECU with a fault I've never come across before, or an intermittent short to earth of the lock request wire, caused either by a dodgy wire or something wrong with one of the lock request switches, again, something I've never come across.
