Hi.
I'm having issues with my new suspension (its sits too close to the wheels to be able to lower it)
To be able to try and resolve it, I need to find out the offset of my wheels. I've looked up on the internet but cant seem to find anything. On the wheel I can see the width etc, but don't seem to be able to find the offset. Is it stamped on them, or is there a standard size for them?
I have 16" Genuine Alpinas.
The tyres are 205/50 which seems to be the size others have used, so I didn't think they would cause a problem.
Thanks
How to find wheel offset

the et is the offset of the hub mounting face relative to the centerline of the wheel. so for example if you have an 8J wheel, you would measure 4 inches towards the mounting face from the back of the rim, the distance from this point to the mounting face is the offset (in mm)LilJen wrote:Hi.

What suspension have you had fitted???
Alpina 7j wheels are ET 28 iirc.
These should fit with no issues at all on E30's.

On the Gaz coilovers you need to run a shorter spring, and not the ones supplied with them.
There has been a few issues on here already with their coilovers and this seems to be the main issue with the longer springs supplied.

With coilovers you tend to need to run a spacer or lower offset wheels. End of. A shorter spring is a bit of a bodge and will reduce bump travel available.
It's due to the spring seat position being changed.

That's what the problem is Dan, the seat for the spring being low and catching..
As Dan said, it's either spacers or as I said, a shorter spring.
