I have the front struts off the car in one whole peice with springs etc... Now to undo the strut at the top I need a tool that allows me to access both nuts... What is this tool?
Trying to find it and not going great.

or, take them to your friendly local garage and ask nicely if they will undo them with their windy gun?

Thanks lads, might have to take them down to my mot place to see if they'll undo them for me...
The last set I managed to get some mole grips round the centre strut bit to hold it, doesnt seem to want to hold this time
They should have a specific tool for this if there isnt already one...

You really should have slackened, but NOT removed, the 17mm nyloc nut BEFORE removing the bloody strut!
Then a set of spring compressers to take the tension off the spring, and Bob is your mother's brother...

I had to improvise with my B4's - had to use an allen key in a pair of molegrips to hold the damper rod in one place allen key through a deep 17mm socket using a separate pair of molegrips on the outside of the socket to tighten it up - an epic bodge but it workeddaimlerman wrote:You really should have slackened, but NOT removed, the 17mm nyloc nut BEFORE removing the bloody strut!

And the drop it onto its wheels for the final tightening

I think its a future investment for sure. I need to plumb in some power to my unit first though, and before that I need to concrete base the floor out and sort the roof (Leaking)
Then make some wall unit spaces, then start buying some more kit and I think this will be one of the first.
