puddles in rear pockets

found puddles in the rear boot pockets today,

at both sides

seems to be coming from a seam where the rubber boot seal is, at both sides,

here,

anybody seen it leak here before, dosent seem rusted, just coming through the seem, dont know how to repair.

new boot seal or adjust the bootlid if its a bit high


you might want to clen out the drain holes in the pockets as well

Looks like you found it in time. Probably just need to replace the boot seal. There are other possible ways for water to enter the boot though.

Rear light seals.
Sunroof drains.
Rusty inner arch; you can probably discount that one.

Why have I got a plastic pot there with a hole in the bottom. Found it today.

You should be able to see where they emerge via scuttles in the boot pockets. The tube may have just come loose in which case reinstate it.
If you open your sunroof you should see where they begin at opposing corners of the sunroof. These drains often become blocked or corrode to the point where they are no longer effective, with dire consequences.
