hi could be the fuel pump yeh this is located under the drivers side rear seat.if i remember correctly the seats need to be taken out and the carpet removed.mine packed up but i found once i removed the seats and the carpet if i just tapped the top of the pump it would free it for a while but needs replacing.not a hard job really just the seats can be a pain lol

I'd suggest the crank sensor, check the wires haven't shorted out on the front of the block, then check the resistance, should be 550ohms IIRC
charlE30 wrote:Tom if you buy a second hand one make sure they do a resistance test with a mulitmeter, very easy to buy a dud second hand one. It should read 540+/-54ohms between pins 1&2 on the plug.

Can anyone suggest how to test if the boot lights are staying on with the boot shut?

When you get the access cover off and can see the top of the fuel pump, remove the 4+8mm bolts that retain the level sensor first, then go for the pump.

Remove the fuel pump relay (orange, under the cover by the air filter), and short together pins 30 and 87 of its base. If the fuel pump is good, you should easily hear it running, without dismantling anything.
