Yes Mate, you can fit an M3/325i LSD pack into an open diff. I have a mate in Worksop who can do it for you and shim it all up.
Not got his number here but it's Neil at All Gears in Worksop.

That should be good Andy (Law)

you'll get something like 35mph in 1st, then 60, then 94, then 131 then 162 (at 6.4k, can't remember what yours revs to)

i.e. you'll get the same first gear as i'll have when i put karans sport internals in my box, i think 35mph will be about perfect for 1st.

tbh i'm happy with the higher ratios now i've got the 3.64 on. although i have got to the limiter in top a few times. :banghead:

but then your engine makes a bit more power than mine

My old 730i (E32) has the same 5 speed manual 260 gearbox and a 3.64 final drive and she does 4000 rpm at the ton. About right then really. I bet the acceleration from 100 upwards is pretty good.

Are you at the Ace on Monday Toby?

yep mine indicates about 50 at 2k, 100 at 4k and bang on 150 at 6k. haven't tried a max run with the chip in that gave limiter at 6.5k but i guess i'd blow it to bits!

my 1st is still too low but as said i have a 325 sport box and am told the internals will go in the 535i box. then it will be nice and quick, the ratios are pretty good already now the 3.64 is in

doubtful will make it to ace monday Andrew, it's a long way for me and my car seriously does 15mpg, that 3.64 i got from pete hasn't made it much better

i could always come in my old mr2 but it doesn't donut very well for some reason

I was thinking i can do this for no cash(in a way) which is handy because i have ordered some brand new higher flowing injectors from the states and a new drill(the last one burnt out working on the adapter plate) so i can carry on working on the TBs/adapter plate ports.

3.46 open dif 40-50 ?
swap the internals over 100 ???
sell my 3.64LSD for 225 ?

I asked the injector place to recomend an injector that would flow enough fuel to support 260-280 bhp. The standard ones are 19lbs (a US flow measurement) and the ones i'm getting are 30lbs.

I have put those E28 M5 injectors on Ebay again as i'm not going to use them with a start price of 20 quid but with only 27 hours to go i haven't had a single bid

I had a bloke who saw my auction offered me an E28 M5 plenum that i want but when he had a rumage through his stuf he couldn't find it and said he must have chucked it ! :x

Andy, mine is pretty much on 4000 rpm at a ton, it goes from the ton up to about 140 nice and quick then tails off till it tops out at 150-155 ish.

 those extra mph must come from a higher rev limit, mine won't go over 150! need that chip back in

yours sounds just like mine mate, up to 140 quite easy then slower up to 150

You have a slightly smaller rolling radius with those 50 profile tyres ?

I can't see it making a massive differance, may be 2-5mph on the top end ?
