New clutch master cylinder required. It has an internal leak past the main seal.

The cap on the clutch resevior is known to split with age/by being tightened too much if its empty and air is entering the system, i think these syptoms may also occur ??

Split clutch reservoir cap will allow moisture to dissolve into the clutch fluid, and also allow in dirt and grit as well; both of which will hasten the end of both the master and slave cylinders.
