3.64 is what manual pre facelift 325s came with as standard, so yes.

I had a 3.91 in mine for a while but found it a little too low geared for my liking so swapped it for a 3.64 and find it much better, it's down to personal preference at the end of the day though.

What have you got in there at the moment?

Won't do much for the acceleration, but it's my ratio of choice for a 325i daily driver.

Is yours the facelift one in your avatar? Wouldn't that be a 3.91 in that? If it is it would be quite a big leap and lose all your bottom end - you would have 300mph top end though!!

That's mine in the picture. 1989 325i auto but the auto has packed up. Did the auto's come with LSD? According to the BMW print out mine had LSD. It's been nicked at some point :-(

I would presume the auto would come with the LSD. Why are you looking for a 3.64 mate?

I run a 3.64 and it suits the car. I've just changed to an E30 325i sport (close ratio) box which is a big improvement too, worthwhile at your stage.

i had both a 3.64 and a 3.91 lsd on my touring. there wasnt that much of a difference although it did seem to lose the edge to the acceleration with the 3.64

3.64 is perfect, 3.91 too low for modern m-way cruising IMHO of course...

Sorry to dig this thread up but i'm also looking at fitting an LSD to my touring. I have a 3.73 LSD in my shed but I think i've changed my mind and want to keep the gearing as is, has a 3.91 open diff at the mo. Although a lot of the driving i do is on the motorway, ultimately i dont do many miles, i'd rather have the pickup. If you haven't bought your LSD already i'd recommend a 3.91, having experienced 3.64 through to 4.1 on 325's, (saloons and tourings) unless you really pile on the miles/are on the motorway every day. You'll enjoy your car more!

Modern motorway cruising is at about 65 isn't it, when we're not stuck in contraflows?! :P
