hi folks, drivers side window is quite....lazy...sometimes needs a wee lift to get it home!....can you change the motor brushes etc. or do you need to replace the whole motor?, any other likely cause of this...seized regulators etc.?...car was sittin up for a good while...thanks.

There are three types of window mechanisms that I've come across fitted to E30's. Pre facelift (into very early facelift) ones, which have an S shaped cable mechanism, dealer fitted post facelift ones, and the factory fitted facelift ones.
The first two give trouble, and the cure is to replace them with the third type, which are ultra reliable.
Any problems with the latter are usually down to dry felt runners for the glass, in need of a bit of silicon grease, or just possibly poor connections in the door pillar plug and socket or a faulty switch.
