I've finally got round to having a look at the wiring for my mirrors as they havent worked since i got the car. I took the speaker out of the footwell and there are quite a few wires that are not connected to anything:

The car doesnt have electric windows so I thought maybe that might be what they are for. The red and black wires at the bottom, the joint was rusty so i reconnected them.

I took the mirror connections at the top of the door apart and used a meter to see if there was any power and there is 12v at all four.

Also i had a look at the fuse box and the fuse in 19 was 20amp and blown so i have now put in a 10amp temporarily. The heater works fine so it cant be the relay.

Shall i have a look at replacing the switch? Other than the loose wires hanging around or both motors being broken I cant think of anything else.

Do both mirrors have to be wired in correctly for either to work or will one work if the other is wrong?

Thanks

i think some of those wires that arent connected are for the tweeters that replace the inside mirror blanking plate. Could be wrong though but i think thats them!

Im sure i posted a response to this slightly earlier.

Anyway managed to remove the switch from the door and it turned out that the switch wasnt even plugged in! So much for the guy i bought it off saying that they were working the week before and the fuse must have gone. I think he had put a blown fuse in the box to make the story seem true. Plugged in the switch and they are working now.

Good times.

Thanks
