I'm new to the forum and would like some advice.

It has a broken follower so i'll change that to get the engine running....hopefully!!!
Now apart from the car using a bit of water, possibly head gasket and or water pump, i thought i may as well take the engine out and give it a once over and possibly even get the crank reground. All of the above are no problem for me but i thought that i should change the oil pump at the same time, so is there a prefered pump, e.g uprated, to use or should i just use a replacement from GSF or even BMW?
Also as the cam belt will be changed is there a prefered brand for that.
I'm not one for driving miss daisy but i do have mechanical respect, so driving hard so long as the engines up to temp with good quality fluids is the way to go for maximum enjoyment.
If there is anypart of the engine i should pay extra attention to that i should know of i would be gratefull of the advice.
