The elecrical plug might be redundant, there is a similar one in my car that is unconnected. The hose needs reconnecting though.

Electrical socket shown is definitely TPS.
Will move this to Tech Help, not Photo Gallery...

Connecting to what? If it's a breather pipe for the fuel tank it needs to be left as it is surely?

And definitely needs a plug connected to it!
Where does the other end of the pipe go?
Does this car have a cat? (Or what age and model is the car?)

The open end of the rubber hose is marked by a hose clip, if it was meant to be left unconnected it would not have had a hose clip on it.

It will but the idle will be high, It wont drive very well at full throttle either.
The pipe looks to have had a clip around it so it need's re-connecting, but im not exactly sure what it's for from that pic.

This engine cannot possibly run anything like properly with the TPS disconnected!

Find the relays near the coolant bottle under a black cover and trace the wireing back, the TPS wire branches off from that not far down (less that 12" iirc) it's a 3 pin plug.
Once the ECU knows to use it's full throttle map you will see the differance, i did on my M20B20

See what you mean, which kind of indicates it's not a breather pipe as first suspected.

Means no such thing - depends on the spec of the car.
