whats involved with swapping a camon an e30 320 preface lift?
and how hard roughly is it?

Difficult to do with the head in-situ I would think. (I'm no expert).
Either remove head or raise (or remove) engine so that you can pull out the rocker shafts and cam shaft.
If I was changing the cam I think I'd want to look at the valves and guides in most circumstances anyway (remove head).
If you're not comfortable removing head, rockershafts/rockers, valves (although not strictly necessary) and driving out and replacing bearings, I would not attempt it on your own.
