G'day, heard a few different views on this...
...need to remove carpet to replace or dye black and I am wondering if it is worth removing the heater box or just cutting around it?
I have heard that getting the heater box out is a pig??
I will have the dash out anyway, does this make it easier.
Don't really want to cut the carpet even though it will be hidden afterwards.
Any tips / experienced comments would be appreciated

If the dash is already out, just loosening the four nuts that hold the box in (accessed from behind the panel, under the bonnet), should be enough to let the carpet slide in and out.

Thanks Brian, as helpful as ever!! I still need to make a cut above the pedals, right?

Only need a tiny cut to release the carpet from the steering column, unless you are planning on removing that as well...heater is no big deal with the dash already out, especialy if the engine bay is empty as well winkeye as Brian says, just the access panel in the engine bay and four 10mm nuts, only tricky bit is going back, the gasket/grommet thingy around the stub pipes can be tricky to re-locate.
