I've been trying to find a new sump gasket for the past few weeks, but everytime i go to an autofactor they give me the wrong shape, despite taking my reg number and checking the model of my car!

This is a long shot, but does anyone on here know the part number for my sump:

Its off a H-reg 318i LUX.. failing that i'll have to try the local bmw garage.

Thanks in advance

I would have thought that a BMW dealer would be the obvious place to go! Quite possibly cheaper than a motor factor, and guaranteed to be the correct part.

most motor factors only sell the upper sump gasket and not the lower piece like you need the gasket from the dealer is only about £5

Yeah i've given them the chassis number and alsorts.

town325i - that must be why they've been giving me the wrong gasket in the past

I've just spoken to JCT600 BMW and they wouldn't order the part in for me unless i went down and pre-paid for it in cash (before they'd place the order)!! They wouldn't even take payment over then phone which seams alittle odd!

So instead of wasting 2hrs driving there and back I've managed to source the lower sum gasket from here: http://www.gsfcarparts.com/ who were more then helpful, and asked which gasket (upper or lower) that i required... which none of the others did.

Will have to see if its the correct one when i go to pick it up.
