had to replace my m20 engine
on removal when i disconected the prop there was no problems, then i pulled the lump out with gearbox attatched!
when the engine/box went back in everything was going smoothly,

to reconnect the prop i had the box resting on a trolley jack then undone the 2 bolts holding the centre bearing, droped the prop a little to get the pin in the gearbox flange, once the pin was in i rebolted the centre bearing up then went to bolt the prop to the gearbox flange but there was a gap of about 1cm between the two,
is this normal? ive checked where the engine is sitting on the mounts and its where it should be
when i put the bolts through i can get the nuts on,do i just tighten the gap together? or have i done something wrong?
help!

There should be a sliding coupling just next to the centre bearing, might be an idea to undo the sleeve and slide it out to meet if you can rather than putting extra stress on the gearbox/prop.
Not in E30s any more :(

Just been out to the car with a torch (its on axle stands)
and think ive located the sleeve, behind the bearing i can see where they join (splines) and what looks like a large slim nut!
do i undo this nut to slide the prop apart?
