Hi all, got a 325is that has been sat for approx 2 years and needless to say, won't start. I have put new plugs in, fuel tank was empty so i put about £10 of V-Power in, havn't changed the fuel filter yet tho, which may be worth a go? got a new battery and no joy.

I'm asking you guys what to do next, apart from replacement fuel filter, i was going to try and get a new coil, HT leads and distributer cap, but i wondered if you guys have any pearls of wisdom to save me some money and time :) i'm no mechanic, but i'm learning and very willing to try, so please guys if you can help me out you might see me at a meet near you... fingers crossed.

Thanks
eko

how did you check for a spark?? did you pull no.1 plug out then put it back in the lead and slot it thru the front engine lifting bracket (to earth it) and crank it over??

is there fuel at the rail on the engine pull the feed pipe off, mind it doesnt squirt you in the face........ petrol in your eyes not good! crank it over do you have fuel pissing out?

if you have, it might be worth undoing the little round plug under the inlet manifold for the injector rail wiring loom. check its not full of corrosion which would effect the wires to the injectors themselves?

i say yes until the part about the slotting it thru the front engine lifting bracket, i was in the drivers seat whilst my bro was doing that. would it not being earthed stop the spark?

if the metal body of the plug isnt earthed then no you wont see a spark.... the metal bit needs to be earthed for the spark to be able to jump the gap. obviously when its screwed in this earths the plug, you need to recreate that somehow and the front engine lifting loop is the most convenient place to slot it in imo.
