i believe that the oil is coming from the the top of the timing chain cover. how esay is this to replace? i know the timing chain cover is in 2 parts but is the gasket in two parts? i am reasonably competant at working on my car but just wondering if i should tackle it myself or pay someone to do it? any information wouldbe appreciated. Thanks

I believe the gasket is in two parts, timing case upper and timing case lower.

yep, and there's also a rubber gasket between the upper and lower cover

Best change the gaskets under the rocker cover too when you have it off

Thanks guys, yea i had the rocker cover off to have a look and see where the oil leak was, i originally thot it was the rocker gasket but then realised it was the timing chain cover.

Is it an easy job?

Thanks again for your input.

Gets messy as you can imaging.

try this

obviously you dont need to do it all but it gets the cover off.

jonboye30 - Sorry to dig up an old thread and all that but how did you get on with sorting the leak? I think I have the same thing on mine and am going to have a go at it this weekend. Which gasket did it turn out to be leaking from??

Cheers!
