The flash speed of the micro is faster on the 320 post 1988, before then both were identical appart from the dip chip.

Pre '88 320i is analogue L-Jetronic! Motronic from '88 onwards.

thanks guys I am using a 320 one at the minute I have just done an engine swap from 320 to 325 so there's gains from fitting the 325 one ? it's a facelift model

Not much really to be gained though the 173 is best for the 325i engine in terms of ease of chipping and reliability.

If you're using an unmodified 320 ECU on a 325, you need to be chipping it NOW!

325 ecu now fitted 8) tickover is much better
are the afm's the same on 320 and 325 ? should i look for a 325 afm ?
