Can anyone recommend decent but modestly priced front pads and discs for my 320i Touring? I would have preferred to use proper BMW ones but budget restrictions mean I have to go for cheaper option but I desperately want to avoid nasty pattern items that'll squeal like a pig eventually.
Other than discs and pads what else will I need?

Could try ebc brakes - not sure how they compare in price to oem, but hear they are pretty good. They do ultra silent brakes (or something along those lines!) and green stuff pads.
Also get some decent braided hoses from goodridge or similar.

Full service on your brakes will work wonders, to be honest. Standard stoppers are really good when kept tip-top.
New fluid, strip and inspect everything, replace/clean as required, bleed 'em through and see what you think before spanking any major cash on upgrades.
I think stock vented fronts and rear disks will cope with most things. When you go beyond that point, go the whole hog and get one of the available multi-pot huge jobbies.

...or is it?
I'm not going for any upgrades or expensive stuff like that. I just want straightforward replacement discs and pads to get me through the next couple of years or so. I will be flushing through my system with fresh fluid and replacing anything that looks tired or had it.
What's the stuff like from Euro Car Parts and GSF?

Cheers for that Simon. Can you recommend any particular make of disc/pad as well? GSF and Euro Car Parts all stock items from companies like ATE, Ferodo, Mintex, Girling etc.

Well you wont go wrong with any of those brands really, avoid Trupart like the plague, i had to fit a set of thier pads once because that was all i could get hold of and i had heard the first touch of metal-metal.... after bedding in i tested them, 1 emergency stop from 70... que pedle in the carpet and smoke billowing from both front wheels, can't blaim the discs, they were brembo max's.
I would either buy brembo or ATE discs and use TEXTAR pads from GSF (textar are what BMW use as standard)
