Hi Guys
Have a look at my rear tires which i will be changeing soon.
my rear left tire is getting eaten up faster than my rear right tire.
as you can see the left rear tire also doesnt sit the same as the rear right....
Any ideas?

my brother told me the uneven wear could be because the exhaust is on the left side??!? anyone heard of that theory before?

Can't see why it would effect it anyway.

very common problem that height issue is. its signs of a spring giving in a little or being bent slightly or subframe bushes being a little 'tired'

ok i think she might be due for a suspension overhaul. i dont think they are the springs as they are new eibach ones not more than 4 months old.

I'd guess the subframe or rear beam bushes have failed on one side,
so now have more "give" on one side than the other

Your pics seem to show the tyre with more wear has more negative camber than the other side, although admittedly it is hard to tell from a photo. assuming springs + dampers are good, this too suggests failed bush to me

bushes a bit of a pain in the face job, but once done are good for another 100k !

If you change the tyres before the bushes, I'd suggest rotating them every couple of thousand miles, even out the wear and get max life out of them :D

Could always be it's had a knock and had the wrong arch fitted?
it's strange that the lower side has such even wear this usually isnt the case.

-- sorry, read the post too quick and mixed up the sides of the car (!)

I'd still guess bushes.
assuming the body isn't confusing the issue of course. (forget the early arches were different, cheers Bob_S)

looks like the .eft has more negative camber which is odd as it's sitting higher. :? if it was the other way round, i'd put it down to maybe a missing spring pad or something on one side.

i'd guess you've got either a bent trailing arm or totally stuffed trailing arm bushes

id guess at something underneath being slightly bent perhaps as the result of a hard pothole or kerb impact or worn bushes. i had a minorish bump with mine when someone went side on into my wheel but i didnt notice that it had bent anything until the tyre had worn right through to the metal threads within 3 or 4 weeks
is it possible one of the rear springs isnt seated correctly?

trailing arms do seem to bend easily. i whacked a kerb with my o/s/r wheel a while ago and now i have massive positive camber and toe out :?
time to get that adjustable toe/camber beam and new arms fitted methinks! :D

this may be well off what people have said but, when i worked in a delership we had a car in for uneven tires, we swapped every thing over,

in the end we found it to be that he was driving the same way to work every day, with the same large camber roads and more left hand bends than right.

he changed the route to work and that sorted it
if there wern't people like me,
with cars like mine,
who would you put down to make yourself feel better?

i expect one wheel sits further in the arch than the other as well(doesnt stick out as much) this is starting to ring bend rear beam trailing arm brackets to me. they can bend very easily as the rear beams on e30's are so light

Thanks for all the advice, from what i have read, am pretty sure the left trailing arm could be the problem here.
i am gonna do the exercise of sourcing another rear left trailing and also getting the bushes changed.

I lol'd at your story hongkongfuey, but i dont think its the case here :D

PS: is there any where on the zone where someone has made a list of all the suspension bits that will need to be changed to freshen up the cars suspension. Thanks

My left tyres are wearing at an alarming rate too. The front right is nearly still perfect whereas the left front and right rear are half worn and the left rear is almost down to the thread depth indicators :(

And I only put these tyres on in Feburary, Maybe 3000 miles ago
I guess it could be due to all the roundabouts on my way to College every Sunday night anf friday evening....
