How do I get them off with out the socket?
Ive seen some emergency remover sockets for sale and just wonderd if any one has used them and how they got on?

if its the splined socket try the dealers or a mate that has the same locking ones there are not many combinations i have a set on my cab and when i bought a set of ebay the splined nut was the same ...i later aquired a spare of a late 330i which was also the same and fitted

sounds like an aftermarket one. pop down to an accessory shop and see if they have something similar.

yep. of course it will be unlikely but cheaper and easier than getting someone to do it for you.

but take the easiest route first before you attack with hammer etc.


better idea :idea: go to a local alloy wheel specialist and see what they have


I don't know what else you can do besides weld something onto locking wheel nut to undo or hammer something into it to get a purchase.

This happened me before when i got a blown out tyre.... :(
A hammer and a socket set, bruit force is the only way to go, you'll make shit of the socket though!!!

I don't know about that ebay thing

what about phoning these guys and asking if they can help. they have always been very helpful when i have phoned and they may have the key you need

The key you mention sounds like it may have come from halfords. there's a big new one in canterbury opposite pc world. I'd try that first. Is it a flower shape with a round peg in the middle?

Yeah come to think about it I remeber buying this type of lock nut form halfords years ago.

they sound like mcguard wheel nuts, i lost the key for mine only way to get it them off use multipoint socket sorry cant remember the size, they are hardened steel so will take some hammering :cry:

Socket will be circa 18mm i suspect.
Give it a good whack on there and a smooth action on the wrench.
Be prepared to fight to get the bolt out of the socket on all four occasions should you be succesful :)

They have just emailed me back. they want me to take a picture of it and they can identify which lock it is. Resault. Cheers for everyones help :D
