what back casing do i need to make it fit my e30?

This diff will not fit an E30 without MAJOR fabrication work. It is much bigger in every dimension than the diffs used in E30s. If this is the diff that you paid £150 for ,you got robbed twice ! :eek:

well maybe he put the wrong car in the advert. its the diff that just needs the back plate changing but i dont know what to....i have the larger diff that your talking about. i already have a subframe made up for it but i didnt want to take the spare wheel well out and put a new hanger in and thought it would be easier to get a diff that would fit strait in.
its too late now anyway... unless i have any luck tmorrow.

The E28 525e diff fits the E30, if this is the one you mean. Just needs an E30 325 (medium case) diff backplate fitted.

Trouble is, the 525e uses a 2.93 ratio which is useless (unless you're running an M50 and c/r box) and I've never seen a 525e with an LSD. Virtually all 535i's used a 3.07 diff which isn't a lot better.
