E36 rack is a good upgrade for the E30 too, and cheaper and easier to find than the Z3 one, although not quite as good.

You'll need to mess about with pipes and the coupling for either of these.

Have a read of this!

I can't seem to find a feckin Z3 rack yet
E36 racks everywhere

An E46 rack is nice too. around 3.2 turns lock to lock and much tighter since it's alot younger

How comes the z3 rack is so good?

I thought my current one was good, the turning circles never fail to suprise me and I got a standard rack in there

The standard E30 rack is possibly the worst bit of design on the whole car!

It's awful! :(
Way too much arm twirling required to go round any corners, and you have to work fast when getting an E30 sideways with a standard rack! 8O

E36 rack is a much nicer ratio, especially for the money they cost (don't be fooled into buying an E36 M3 rack at extra cost, they are no better!).

If you can afford it, and if you can find one, a Z3 rack is even better though.

Much more responsive and satisfying steering to be had from either of these. Makes the car much nicer to drive. :D

Odbod - that is a fine looking car you have there!

They are all the same. Same work needed for all of them.
For an iS, you don't need the adapter for the U-J though since you'll only be mounting it on the front holes of the subframe.

I done mine on two concrete blocks and a few bits of wood under the chassis rails

I'm pretty sure there are a couple that run it with the 6branch.
