Every once in a while my wipers come on for 1 wipe all on their own?

If the column switch still has a nice 'BMW' feel about it, then it's probably a fault with the black retangular 'relay' in the fusebox.

yea as Brian puts it , definitely a relay problem.
a mate of mine had a look @ my car which had the same problem b4. had problem stopping the wipers from wiping ..even after there's no rain . imagine the embarrasment .

have a look at the relay , make sure there's no dust or muck on it .

mine had to be resoldered just to make sure everything's in check with the relay .

after that should be A ok ,

if it still gives u prob , try make sure the contact holes on the relay is dust free , if dusty , contact point between the relay n fusebox might cause it to go bonkers after every few other road bumps.

hope this helps.
