My 325 touring project

This has sat on a drive for 13 years before i bought it and is now stipped to a rolling chassis about to get some rust issues cut out and replaced.
Getting stripped and checked
Some of the spare parts i had or begged from my mate ready to go to sandblaster.I have both subframes going to just not in the pic.
While to car is getting welded i have started ordering new parts
Haven't decided if i'll powder coat or paint the subframes, struts etc once they come back from sandbasting ,whats you opinions?
Also whats your opinions an underseal? I was thinking por15 but it aint cheap another thought was hammerite then stonechip.
More pics to come

look like its going to be a good project.
powder coat or paint on the struts & subframes?? i'd say paint, 2K seems to last longer (if you know what i mean?)
as for underseal, i've always used hammerite (couple of coats) then a good coat of stonechip, but if you can afford por15 then go with that, all comes down to budget.
keep the updates coming

I am leaning towards etch primer ,high build primer then 2k for the subframes etc after a bit of research.
Por15 is the number 1 choice and i reckon will be money well spent .I'll just have to work harder haha.

very true, primer/2K seems to be the default choice,
i have used por15 on a mk2 escort floor pan & i was very impressed with it, so much so i did the entire body in it lol well it was only a track car,
costs a fair bit more but like they say you get what you pay for.

Another few hours at this today looking for more rust and cleaning areas to weld.
Pretty positive i have found all the rust now which turned out to be quite a bit more than i first thought.

Alls well mate. I'll need to get down for those gutter trims .
You don't have a 2.5 gear linkage by any chance do you ?
(Think it's the only part I need now . Need to phone Brutus but no had a chance yet)

Do not, under any circumstances, use a shultz type underseal. The use of this stuff seals the fate of the car a few years down the line, when it hardens, lifts, and traps water behind it.
Best underseal is a polyurethane type, similar to that applied at the factory. 3M sell a suitable type which comes in disposable sachets that attach to a special air powered spray gun.

Another weekend spent bending metal to weld

another day or two should see all the welding and grinding of welds done.
Couldn't make this part up so had to buy it
Had a wee bit time left this morning to get the calipers cleaned up and in primer.
Also the lollypops and a few other bits

After a few mishaps with the rear wheel bearings yesterday i had to go get new ones today.
With a hand from my mate (fellow zoner) and a press we got a fair bit done today
Front end rebuilt apart from steering rack which still needs clean plus rear end rear built apart from diff which also needs cleaned ,painted and a new gasket.
rear discs will be changed for new when they arrive lol

Only went to garage today to tidy up yesterday's mess that was left but couldn't help myself.
So diff was cleaned painted and fitted .
A bit premature as still needing to get a back plate gasket so never bothered cleaning the back plate.
Both the oem steering racks i had sprung leaks when i was cleaning the pipes up so had to go with an e36 one i had from a breaker ages ago.Which means i'll have to sort out linkage now.
Not ideal but will have to do for now

Haha Ronan.
I've had access to a ramp for 2 weeks so been doing an hour or 2 after work and a few hours over the weekends to get it back on its wheels.
Progress will more than likely slow now as i'm struggling to find a 325 prop and i need to order the same bits you needed for the manual swap.

Might be able to help you out!! I have a 325 prop sitting here and i am not sure it will work with the set up I have? Not sure how to check with an M40 still sitting in the bugger!!
Mine is an e36 2.8 donk and box and an e30 diff. not sure of the dimensions so not sure if the e30 325i prop will fit. If it doesnt fit mine, you can have it.

iirc if your using the e36 gearbox you need to use e36 prop component or an e30 m3 prop
