E30 Zone

We had a visit to a Nature reserve just out side of Leeds. And was created by this when the River Aire took a shine to where it was digging.
Parked next to the car park and seems right at home there too.
I remember seeing this in action when I was a kid from a distance.
It was all electrically powered too

Well bugger me that takes me back. I saw that in action in the open cast too when I was a kid. "Big John" dragline.

Funny thing was it moved on feet not tracks, quite a thing to see in action

It did "Walk"

Looking at it again I think there was a couple of them, the one I saw was a different one working near Corby IIRC. I remember being told they had got it to walk from one site to another, 13 miles cross country

true, i'm also planning a walk round clipstone head stocks just down the road from me.
the tallest headstocks in western Europe, mind you i did grow up round mining when i was a kid.
