consumer rights

evening folks looking for some advise on buying a second hand car from a second hand trader.
i bought the car (07 plate citroen xsara Picasso) from a local tyre yard last week (28/07/21) who also sells second hand cars,
when i paid i was given the new keepers green slip & the receipt when i paid on my debit card, no other receipts were given just the one from the card terminal.
been driving around for the past few days with no problems till today.
ca,e to leave my mums about 5-30pm, backed the car out the parking space & as i went to turn & leave the steering went very very heavy, i managed to get the car back into a parking space & as i got out i noticed a large puddle where the car had just been (when i backed it up) & a trail of liquid leading back up to the car.
looked underneath & the front subframe was soaked as well.
so i called greenflag who turned up 20mins later & the guy had a look & said it looked like one of the power steering pipes had come loose, got the car recovered back home & just had a look underneath & it looks like the steering rack has failed,
i'll pop down & see the trader i got it from in the morning & see what he has to say as i've only had the car a week (just).
can anyone point me as to what my rights are? as right now i'm stuck without a car.
how should approach the situation? am i entitled to a repair? refund or replacement?
i hope some one can help me out here.
thanks in advance.

Start here: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/ ... a-used-car
Also, always pay for non trivial amounts with a credit card. Good luck.

well i popped down to see him this morning,

explained what had happened & straight away he said he's sort it, he came round about 30 mins ago with his mechanic who had a look, he said he'd pop back this afternoon to pick it up & get it sorted.

when i asked him if it was going to cost me anything he said no, free of charge.

so fingers crossed.

Pulled alongside one a few years back it was summer time I was in my Lotus and the roof was off, the guy in the Picasso looked over and I looked at him and noticed two child seats in the back I also noticed the forlorn look on his face, I could see the tears welling up on the inside ready to burst forth as at that moment the realisation hit him that his life was over.

The lights changed and I left him for dust........

all sorted, turned out to be the power steering pressure switch had packed up & the fluid was coming through it, blanked it off & back to working normally now.
