How do we combat this ??

No one calls me at work unless it`s important so when my wife called me at 8;30 last night I new it was serious, she told me one of the french doors had been smashed so I came home asap (15 mins)
The police were called before I got there and what a bloody mess I found .
I have never seen glass everywhere as much as this. They threw a big stone from the garden through the door with such force it hit and broke the oven 8 feet away so you can imagine the mess we had.
Fortunately my wife was out at the time.
The police were great and so were CSI and we were all secure by 04.00
They took my son`s car.
Thats all.

How do we combat "SCUM" such as this ???
The policeman advised buying a dog, not a bad idea so what are your thoughts on this please ?

Really sorry to hear that Mart, were they trying to do a 'millennium car theft' i.e stealing the keys?

What was your son's car? Wonder if they were trying to find the keys.

Unfortunately there is little to dissuade these types. They know people don't react to alarms these days and not much happens to them even if they get their collar felt. I could be sure of something happening to me if I booted them off my place at the end of my shotgun.

Neighbours have dogs and they do work as there is a racket from next door if anyone comes near our place. Geese work better and more likely to have a go :D but you need a bit of space :D

When our last place had an attempted break in (despite the wailing alarm) in broad daylight only defeated by the strength of the lock, CID suggested a good CCTV system, Hi-Res and one that can see in the dark , preferably one that uploads to the cloud.

That's what we have now, The red glow of the infra red around the cameras are quite noticeable at night.

Unfortunately it is not about stopping them it is making your place less easy to pick on

Hi Mart, sorry to see this happen - I have had a similar experience. Nobody wants to come home to this. Thankfully your wife was out and nobody got hurt. The answer - who knows as the dice seems to be loaded in favour of the scum involved. As suggested a good camera outside must help.

Sorry to hear this. Who took your son's car - the villains or Old Bill? And presumably, that's a bowl of cat food, thoughtfully peppered with glass by the vermin?

That's terrible, but glad everyone's okay!

Litter your garden with bear traps!
It's a shame they get away with it, I'm well up for a vigilante group, rather then the neighborhood watch!
On a serious note, CCTV is a good shout.

A toughened glass double glazing unit is surprisingly difficult to break unless you hit it near a corner. It's a pity the rock didn't bounce back and do serious damage to the scum.

Thanks for the kind words guy`s .
The car is still missing but the new cooker is here and we have taken our time to complete a list of what needs to be replaced due to glass ingress ie the stuff you have to look hard for as in the toaster and the kettle , both had small slithers in.

The up side is that Squeek the new cat is fine.lol

Gaggle of c***s.

As above, CCTV. I use a ‘smart’ system. I can check the cameras from my phone and it notifies me straight away of any motion. Luckily the only thing setting it off is the odd Marder or boar.

Hi Mart,
So sorry to hear about this, hope you’re all recovering well.
They better not have touched your Baur... if they did this crime would be risen to MI5 priority I’m sure :x
