One for the folk brighter than me, email problem

Ok so last month I sent out my invoices to various clients and it became apparent a virus/scam had gotten into my email.

In short, the people who I had invoiced, received a second email from me telling them I was updating my bank details and when was payment going to be made, all in a fairly aggresive fashion.

There were no links or anything to click in the second email, nor are they asking for directly for bank details, it doesn't make any sense to me. Its like I am just pestering my clients to hurry up and pay??

Any ideas? I have scanned my system and it shows up clean. Not sure what to do next.

Oh, I should add, not everyone got the second email, just some.

You use Hotmail so for your business I'd advise creating an account with a better provider.

Start off with Gmail, they are okay I personally use Apple but I am odd as you know, my Yahoo account gets a load of shite buy my Apple and Gmail accounts get less phishing mails, also get your PC/Laptop scanned to see if its been compromised.

Don't use windows platforms, or Android. I have been in the IT business for 25 years and I tell everyone to use Apple products and services as they are proven to be more secure.

Someone is scanning your email and the next email, which will likely go to those who received the first scam email, will have their bank details instead of yours.

I would also get a better email provider, such as Apple, and forward all emails to that account, introducing it to your customers as a change to make everyone more secure.

Report this to the police as it's fraud. Alert your bank also.

There are offices full of people in places like India and the job is to scam people in the UK, it's a high margin business. They pay more than call centres and attract smarter people.

Note that your email has been compromised and anything in it is now shared.....
