As sad as this is, it is my understanding that Jak Parker didn't crash the car, nor did he force anyone off the road. Sooo? He got 12 years for 'egging' somebody on? Thoughts on this?

A "street racer" in a mg zr??? Ok then,

At the end of the day he got what was coming to him, drive like a twat (which by the sound of it he was doing) & you will get pulled up.

Why do these clowns do it?? Want to drive fast?? Go on a track dayn not on a public road.

If being a c**t got you 12 years in the clink the zone would be silent!

No doubt he deserved to lose his license but the only thing he is guilty off is speeding (Nobody here would do that) and dangerous driving (Nobody on here would do that), would they?

Sad for all families involved. Its always the innocent ones that end up dead.

You undertake these stunts on a public you get what you deserve.

He enticed other drivers to drive outside of their abilities which left too many people dead.

Do it do it do it do it.

I can't believe you're cutting him some slack, Bab :)

Et tu Beemerbird! :(

Rebecca Learoyd, one of the dead females, is responsible for her own death and those of her passengers...nobody else!

I'm just waiting for the irrational parents, "HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU HAD SPROGS!!?"

He deserved a lengthy ban but if enticing people into bad decisions warrants these sort of sentences where do you draw the line?

I'll hold my hands up & admit, that yes have driven at high speed, have driven like a twat & had the odd "race" but that was when was younger,

& the "race" was on hardly used back roads against mates who I knew could drive.
Not proud of it, but I'll admit it I was a little twat at the time.

Sorry that guy got what was coming, no two ways about it.

^ So your mate crashes while racing you... you deserve 12 years because he crashed and killed himself and his passengers?

I'm seriously struggling with that logic... and I have never once 'raced' on a public road.

Seems harsh to me, everyone has free will to make their own decisions, you make a choice, you take responsibility for your actions.

Dreadful state of affairs though for the families.

She didn't have to be embalmed...

Back to being sad about the death of a Wotsit and her friends.

Mr Beemerbird often points out how he is making other drivers drive outside their comfort zones. It's very recognisable if you know what you're looking for. He drives like a coont, and the jailed lad did worse, because his targets were enticed into a stupid bit of racing that their driving skillz did not match

You and only you are ultimately responsible for your decisions. That girl did not have to drive at speeds of up to 77mph in a "fiat with faults" in a 30 limit.

The guy got f ucked for it because there was no girl left to prosecute.

Rapists and peados have done less time!

Well, Rebecca Learoyd and Jak Parker are both responsible to a certain extent, they were both 'racing' but to have a 12 year sentence passed is flipping insane considering Parker wasn't driving the car in question.

Anecdotally, a neighbour of my aunts received 2 years for killing his two friends in a car crash, admitted to driving over the speed limit and drink driving.

He got 2 years for killing people.. in his car. So were does the 12 years come from?

a dumb magistrate who probably let off a nonce with a supervision order (one where he supervises children)

4 deaths due to his driving. Last time I checked, that would work out at 3 years for each life lost. The tw4t needs to take time to think about his actions.

It was 3 deaths, so it should be 9 years? and actually it was the direct result of HER driving and the indirect result of HIS driving.

If you want to place blame I'd put it at 60/40.

I hate defending this little dingle-berry and when I become El Presidente he will be on the 'Cull List'

It wasnt his fault the stupid slappers couldnt drive, but, at his peril, the law is an ass, he is the only fooker left standing, and he got well and truly bummed.
Did he deserve it? IMO yes, guilty by association, if he had talked them into a threesome instead of a high street race/crash they would still be alive and everyone would be much happier/experienced :D

12 years is a bit harsh, he does deserve a very long ban though and maybe a year or so in prison for being a tool and racing on public roads but Rebecca raced out of her own free will therefore unfortunately she is responsible for her own death along with that of Anne and Megan :(

the more serious crime which has been overlooked is that he was driving an MGZR 8O

I agree, Yes he deserved a custodial, if the truth be really known, we are probably lucky more are not dead because he was at it every night!

But 12 years is too long when paedos, molesters and fiddlers are getting less!

On my speed awareness course....... :o: we were shown a series of photos showing where a pedestrian was killed by a speeding motorist.

11pm. Sober Driver just going home. 40 in a 30.

Drunk pedestrian. Mates across the road. He runs across the road to join them. On a bend.

Driver hits him. Gets 4 years custodial.........

That one hit home to me I have to admit.

I cant see how they sent him down for someone elses bad driving, if they cant drive they should not have been trying to race someone, if they just stayed at 30mph and not tried to race him they would be alive today, typical of this country really

Sounds like he needed a better brief to me!
If it had been a copper there would have been no jail involved thats for sure, and we all know they speed as much as everyone else!

That is a proper harsh sentence!! Mind you he sounds an absolute bell-end and would no doubt have kept racing (sounds like he raced a lot and rather dangerously without a care for others) so yes he needed to go down but for 12.5 years? Holy sh*t that's steep when you consider pre-meditated murder can get you less and the kid rapists get sweet deals in comparison.

I doubt a ban would've made a difference, he'd have carried on driving anyway

You expected people to slate the sentence, right?

Far too many law abiding members, by the looks of things.

The argument could simply be the tariff is correct for this coont, but it is far too light in the case of some murders and kiddy fiddlers.
