327 Lachs Silver Touring for the chop ...

So now the LHD 327 Touring is back in the UK for good, I've got one car too many. These are the options I've considered:-
1. Sell it as a track car for someone
2. Register it as a UK car (then sell one of the other two)
3. Swap the 327 motor into the Cab, then sell off all the spare bits
What do you think?

Shell is good for a 1988 car, hardly any bad bits. Never had or needed any welding. It was built for the German market, I don't know if that makes a difference.
It's an ETA conversion with a 325 head.

OK, I'll be posting on the For Sale section soon:
- Good Touring rolling shell with full details of any imperfections, once I've put it up on a ramp and checked.
- Complete 2 litre engine, which has had a full service, including cambelt change, less than 3000 miles ago. Can be seen running until I pull it out of the cab.
- Odds and ends ...

Just a thought, you'd proabably be able to sell the touring faster with the 320i engine from the cab in it!

Good thought, and it was a 320 originally.
So while I've got my hands oily, it will only be another days' work to install the engine.
Trouble is, that would still mean trying to sell a LHD car with no UK registration, which is why the fragging route appeals. I'll have to ponder on that a bit more.
Any other opinions, guys?

There was a guy from the states looking to buy a touring w/o engine.
May be an ideal situation

I think I've read that thread, but surely the cost of shipping is too high to be worth it for him.

Point taken, but what positive advice do you have, given what I am dealing with?

If he is that keen, and it seems like the perfect car for him? I agree that the cost would put me off.

A 2.0 engine is worth zilch, a touring shell is worth zilch . On the other hand a LHD touring with a running engine has a value. As long as you have some paperwork , stick it on ebay, you might be suprised what it makes if its tidy. Probably a good deal more than a similar RHD car.

Do you want your cab to be faster, or is it purely for cruising? Make your own mind up!

But I'd certainly sell the touring with an engine in it - whichever you decide that should be.

Obviously the 320i Cab is reasonable for the use it gets and doesn't 'need' a bigger engine. But have you ever had a love affair with an engine that was built from the block up, and no-one else has used?
Maybe I should leave the cab untouched and try and find a buyer for a 2.7 lump? ... but I do like the feel of that engine pushing my back into the seat

I know what you mean, but to anyone but you, your M20B20 and anyother is worth more in parts than it is as a whole. You'd easily find a buyer for the 2.7 but you will definatly regret selling it more than you would regret selling the 2.0!
Having sat in Ziggys cab at full chat I don't think the cab shell is too weak or rattly for a more powerfull engine at all, and besides looks like some interesting options for more shell rigidity just popped up in another thread.
