always always always. no matter who has told you its a good engine. whether you heard it running or not.
just took the 325i engine to bits that i put in my touring three weeks ago cus the oil looked like valve grinding paste, all the mains are knackard and the big ends are not sh1t hot either. sounded ok when i heard it running before i bought it. the crank would be ok though if the thrust bearings haddnt have worn a big groove in the crank!!
the moral of the story...... even if the queen says an engines good, always take it to bits before you stick it in your car.

oh yeah, i need a good 325i crank or bottom end that youve checked!
need it really quickly!

Suggest you find the individual who sold you the engine and give them a good whipping with the knackered crank!

Any pics of this atrocity?

Hope you get it sorted pronto.

beardymat saves the day :D been wondering what to do with the spare crank in my shed, never liked throwing stuff away as it always tends to suddenly become usefull after the bin men have been.

Goddammit !!

Threw a perfectly useable 325i crank a couple of weeks ago because no bugger wanted it, even 99p on ebay didn't attract any bids :x

Beardymat knows a good crank when he spots one though.

Cheers,

The engine in the green alpina C2 2.7 which i specificly bought the car for, had good compression on all 6 cylinders, heard running for half hour with no overheating, knocks or rattles and had been rebuilt approx 30000 miles ago. I still pulled it to bits and will be rebuilding it before fitting in my car.

they are fooked! 8O
but it wasnt knocking/sounding any different or running rough tho.
just the oil looked like flick/glitter laquer. lol!

oh and you can call me stupid, dumb and a w4nker. but im going to have to fit the old bearings out of the old 320 engine with beardymats crank......i have 0 cash at the moment and need my car!
same bears but pretty mint......
Image

im guna strip all the bearings out of the old 320i to see exactly what condition they are in, on monday. might have beardymats bearings that are from this crank tho? what do you think is best????

engine will be out soon as i pick up my dads engine crane in the morning. so will post up pics of the knackard crank!

Wasn't aware that 320i bearings would fit a 325i crank but best of luck with it all! :)

So you brought a touring, was that fucked? You brought a yb, guess that was fucked too?

Pretty blunt statement youv'e made. You never sold any car parts, guess they were fucked thats why you sold em eh.
