Thats how it looks now, crap picture taken through glass...
Talked to the nice people at the respray shop this afternoon. For all the work i want done i.e. full respray including the slam panel with fitting of skirts custom, spraying of bumpers etc comes to £1600.
It was £1200 a year ago when last quoted but i guess thats inflation plus that fact they cant use 2pack paint anymore apparently.
Seems very reasonable to me, their website is:

probably a fair price for a full respray. i think it was £1200 iirc cash ,no receipt, i paid 8 years ago but that was a complete bare metal spray.

My tutor has just paid £500 for a respray. And a cracking job too!
Not sure what was involved, whether he did prep or anything.

it all depends on the amount of work done. will the windows be removed or masked up? but the price you mentioned is probably about right for a decent job. it wont be perfection but looking at your sig your paint looks in good condition already. does it need a complete respray or just some attention to specific areas? if its not broke dont fix it.

it looks good from about 6 feet away but no closer than that.
The paint is full of contaminants and oxidises within a few weeks of cutting. there are small deep scratches/nics on every pannel that cant be polished out plus I want a perfect colour match on all pannels hopefully when its done it'll start getting close to something special.
its ok but it could be soo much better

Why not get it highly polished by a professional polishing company... A mate of mine mentioned a company he'd seen in a classic car magazine charging around £300 for a machine polish and buffed up to the max. He said the previously dull car looked fantastic. I'm thinking of getting mine polished once I get the arches sprayed. Just a thought mate.

Did consider getting the boot bonnet and roof repolished but a couple of the scratches are just too deepi'm just down the road from the polishing company that featured in total bmw a while ago, i'll be taking it there after its been painted

In terms of getting the surfaces coated with paint does it not just come down to the level of polishing afterwards given that this is a standard solid colour?
I dont want a substandard job

Why not strip the car yourself and put it back together after it's painted to save yourself some money? Will probably be half the cost.
Taylor.

if its a keeper then a £1600 respray is a good investment.
although, as said above, it must be a full strip down, glass out, doors off, bumpers, skirts, lights ect.

thats a damn good point -i have stripped the various parts of the car down before with the exception of removing the shadowlining and door windows
