New wheels or suspension upgrade?

I need a little input please lads and ladettes.

I have a bit of spare cash to play with at the moment and was contemplating changing the wheels on the turd.

The wheels I have looked at are Lenso BSXs in 16", A BBS split rim replica. Link

I had pretty much made my mind up on getting these and having them on the car for Ace day in may, But after looking through some more pctures on google I noticed they have a really odd bolt hole arrangement that I'm not convinced about.

So I'm not 100% sure I would trust that layout on my car.

Do I trust that bolt arrangement, after all it must have passed some kind of safety test?, Or do it put some new tyres on my 17's and get some Eibach springs and ARBs?

Tyres would be Dunlop SP sport maxx on either the new 16's or old 17's.

Decisions decisions. :?

i prefer you existing wheels to those i think, i dont like the look of the funny bolt pattern either sureley it would have made more sence of them to turn the existing pcd 45 deg before re drilling the next pcd :?

Dave i would go for the suspension, if the alloys were a rare set then maybe but i think you can get them anytime(well same with the suspension but still....), and plus theres nothing wrong with the set you got on at the mo anyway. Depending how you drive the car you will notice the difference straight away, the eibach ARB's is a must IMO. Not sure about the holes on those alloys, im sure thats sure really safe like that, never seen that before....

Those Lensos are quite similar to mine winkeye winkeye

I think the wheels would be a justified option. Just my IMO.

if they were genuine BBS RS i'd say have them but they don't look right. the corner radius on the spokes looks tacky. i wouldn't be put off by the bolt holes though, they must be safe.

Hmm, Just to throw a spanner in the works I have just spoken to one of the guys at another branch of the company I work for and he said the supplier also keeps blanks of those wheels so they can do custom pcd drilling.

So maybe if they can do me a set in 4x100 only we may be onto a winner. :?

Go with the springs and ARB's.

Then save up for some very deep dish BBS :)

It's all about the chassis benefits. Unless you spend more time looking at it than driving it

easy what to you drive the car for? Handling can't be top of the list with big heavy 17's on it!

Lighter rims wouldn't hurt but he'll feel more benefit for less moolah with ARBs or some such imo. Better still, get some nice springs and dampers to go with ARBs and score some RZs for nostalgic (and orthopaedic) value 8)

I d go with suspension mate. Put spax psx's on my 323i with the 15" BBS rims. looks a treat and handles a dream on road and specially on trackdays.

What's wrong with the suspension that's on it already?

i'll bet the 17s on it weigh less than the fakey jakey crappy rs copies.

if they were proper rss there would be no contest. besides, i think your current wheels suit it and are one of the few unusual aftermarket wheels that actually look good on the e30.

the pcd layout does look fairly odd, i don't really see why theyve done it like that, but should be plenty strong enough. i'm more concerned by the amount of weights it's taken to balance up what looks like a brand new wheel

Well i ordered a set of Dunlop sp9000's for the 17's today as the current tyres are needing replacing. The supplier for the BBS replica wheel does not have stock and will not have for min of three weeks.

I think Simon made a good point, I don't really drive hard so is it worthwhile spending all that cash on things I may not ever really know the benefits of.

The springs will be changed anyway as Ant has mentioned they seem really soft, so a nice set of Eibach or H&R's won't be a bad idea. The car has billie blacks on it at the moment so they may as well stay.

I also need to swap my spring pads as it turns out I have the thin versions, hence the camber and tyre wear issues.

I voted susp Dave  those springs have gotta go dude.

Rimz, yup nice choice but you don't NEED them, and I like what you have, only set on here iirc, thats gotta be worth something :thumb:
