i've seen red carpet in a cabby, it was in a chrome bumper model. The carpets came in few different colours to match the interiors, especially cabs and lux or se models.

I have seen some E30s in my life, but never with red carpet but as they say, you learn something new every day!

I have seen red carpet in hardtops and cabs. Some cars with oxblood trim appear to have came with an anthracite carpet, some with red and a red rear shelf to match ! Red interiors were unfortunately out of favour by the late 80s so alas are very rare :(

Apparently, according the spec info from BMW, my 325i Touring was ordered with the 'special order' crimson interior; no idea what that included however as it now has a silver leather interior (which, judging by the state of it looks to have been in it for all of its 20 years :? )

Early cars had some strange interiors; if BMW went to the trouble of making a green interior, including carpets, I'm sure there must be some red ones around - as others have said, red was around in early '80s cars. I remember my Father having one of the first FWD Cavaliers in '83 (1.6 L !!) that had a reddish interior; seats, door tims, dash and carpets  )

I believe Crimson red is the correct name for the colour and not oxblood which many people refer to. This is what BMW GB told me anyway!

Same here, although mine also has the codes for the grey cloth sports interior that it still has

WTF is this 'crimson' malarky ?

Cheers,

'Crimson red' is a common feature on touring build specs but i think it is a computer or translation glitch because i have never seen a touring wih red leather. I have also owned a few which listed crimson leather on the spec sheet but i know for a fact had anthracite cloth from new :(

My 325 Touring had that on the dealer enquiry too! (didn't have it though)

I got Crimson red in my car with red carpet and rear self, but it is out of a 91 325i. Also there was a Cardinal Red int that got matching carpet in one year only that i've seen. The rest of the Cardinal Reds got gray carpet. But thats over here in the states.

I have also seen a M3 cabriolet that had what was called 'Missano Red leather', this was basically a black leather interior, but with red inserts to the seat backs & seat bases...very very rare indeed.

Was featured in Total BMW magazine a few years back.
