Garage Feedback Section

For give me if this has already been done, but maybe it would be a good idea if the zone created a section that allowed users to post any garages they have used for work on their car.
Thus giving other users an idea where to get certain jobs done.

If it worked in a set way as follows it would become a good resource for us all.

Garage Name - Town & County - Work Done - Work Rating 1-10 - Price Rating 1 -10 - Comments

This is obviously only an example, but i thought i'd let you guys run with it

Perhaps limit location to town, and have the address listed too.

This would allow people to quickly search for garages near them.

Good Idea, i have motified my original post

Maybe sub categorise the garages by jobs needed done. i.e bodywork, mot, etc

Maybe also have an overall rating determined by the score in the rating categories. Say add both scores for an out of twenty score. Or times it for an out of 100 score.

excellent idea, as garages now dont always have mechanics who have ever worked on e30's, wheras others (like the one i use for my e30's) have a boss who knows his e30's and actually likes working on them I think as he does the jobs himself.

Thats exactly why i thought of this as a section. Im only 21, and this is my first car. So i have no idea where to turn in terms of getting work done.

People may also want specialist work done, welding etc. it doesnt have to stop at maintenance, maybe include valeting other usefull services/shops etc.

It may take a while to get off the ground. but as more and more add their garages and experiences we will have a very useful resource on our hands. its almost worth subscription infact. Wait, i may pull this thread and set up a website lol

i think its a superb idea something that should be done. its the one thing i hear so much of in the scene is that people are worried where their car is goin to end up. i refuse to use my local bmw dealership not due to price but due to them all being 10 and spotty and wouldnt look to out of place in a certain toilet advert.

I will warn people of:

Raeburn Autos in Surbiton, nice enough lot but incompetent and careless with their customers cars.

Westfield garage in New Malden, charged extortionate prices for electrical work and bodged it all completely.

National Tyres and Auto Care in Kingston Upon Thames, again nice enough but incompetent and jacked my car up on its sideskirt :x and tightened the wheel bolts so much that I could not remove them!

I recommend:

A-tech winkeye

Bexley Motorworks (only used them once) :D

And my mate lewis :)

Conflict of interest there Ant? Lol

Seriously, if you're going to do it do it properly. Need a proper way of being able to find your town and see all the garages there. Maybe a whole extra garage section with a sticky thread for each region? Then you could look on the "East Midlands" thread to see recommended garages in that area.

And maybe another few sticky for absolute zone recommended top-notch places eg one for tuning and transplants and general engine management - Ant's, bodyshop work - Beardymat's etc.

That's the format I think would be most useful, so you're not searching through an unsorted list.

i wasnt aware such a thing existed, but i thought it would be could to have a list of garages that are good with e30's that was the idea. But i agree if a list exists out there, then good idea. maybe just a sticky with the link?
