Leading on from the fastest car on the zone thread, How about we set up a little challenge to find the fastest car at the pod this september?
I was thinking we could have a few categories:
A, 316/318/318IS/320
B, 325/327
C, Forced induction and engine swap
D, Overall fastest
Each winner will be given a trophy of some description (Probably a perspex plaque for the garage wall?)
What do we think?

Sounds like an excellent idea. We need more 'Zone' events. Help build the community spirit and all that.
Shame I never seem to have a car or money every time one comes up! lol.

But it would be awesome to be a yearly event!

I think to make it fair the categories should be based on power to weight ratio?

It may be easier to use the categories that the Ultimate BMW Show already have. That way the results are categorised, ordered and posted on the web with no further effort from anyone on here?
From memory they are:
4 cylinder
6 cylinder
8 cylinder
Cars on slick tyres
If anything I propose we have a seperate category for 'Fastest Tourer'

Meh, I'll bring the '02 for a laugh, rat look anyone ??
Agree with Mr Nelson, as per the event catagories, we can all quibble after the event

Why seperate them? I didn't see a charged E30 post a quick time at last year's event....
...and as for that other thread - Bootyman, I'll happily challenge your '500BHP+' car in my naturally aspirated, no N20 estate car.
When the flag drops, the bullshit stops.

Great idea! I think d9dph's categories in the first post are the most fair.
A 6cyl class is slightly unfair as a m50 powered e30 is gonna wooop a 325i! as with 4cyl

thing is you start getting to the point of having a 318i class, 316i class, 318iS class.. etc etc
Mr Nelsons idea sounds good..
Or a simple <2000cc, <2500cc, <3500cc, 24v, FI Maybe? Fuck knows..
All claimed times would need to be backed up with a printout!!

sounds good to me
but my 2.5 is alot slower than my Dads m50 so bit unfair but mine is technically a 316

Better But cleaned up to:
Under 2000cc Period Engines
Under 2000cc FI/NOS/Not OEM
Under 3100cc but over 2000cc Period Engines
Under 3100cc but over 2000cc FI/NOS/Not OEM
Over 3100cc Period Engines
Over 3100cc FI/NOS/Not OEM
And no one runs on slicks, road legal tyres only.
